Terms of Use

Using this website.

A few plain-language terms for the site itself. This isn’t the assessment agreement — that comes later, in writing, before any work begins.

The short version

These terms cover your use of the Bench Psychology website. By using the site you agree to them. They’re about the website only — not the assessment itself, which is governed by a separate written agreement you sign before any work begins.

This is information, not clinical advice

Everything on this site is general information to help you decide whether an assessment is the right next step. It is not medical, psychological, or clinical advice, and it is not a diagnosis.

Reading the site, emailing me, or submitting the intake form does not create a psychologist–client relationship. That relationship begins only once you and I have spoken and you have signed a written assessment agreement and consent.

Booking an intake

Submitting the intake form is a request to get in touch — not a confirmed booking. I read every intake personally and reply within one business day. Nothing is scheduled, and no fees apply, until we’ve talked and you’ve agreed in writing to go ahead.

Fees and the assessment agreement

The site may describe typical fees and timelines so you can plan. The binding terms — fees, billing, cancellation, consent, and how your child’s records are handled — live in the assessment agreement and consent forms you sign before testing, not on this website. If anything here ever differs from that paperwork, the signed paperwork governs.

In an emergency

This site and the intake form are not for emergencies, and I can’t monitor them for urgent needs. If you or your child are in crisis, call 911, or reach a crisis line right away — Distress Centre Calgary at 403-266-HELP (4357), available 24/7, or Kids Help Phone at 1-800-668-6868.

Your privacy

How I collect, use, and protect the information you send through this site is covered in the Privacy Policy. You can change or withdraw your cookie choices any time using the “Cookie Preferences” link in the footer.

Content and intellectual property

The words, images, illustrations, and design on this site belong to Bench Psychology. You’re welcome to read the site and share links to it; please don’t copy, republish, or reuse the content without permission.

The site is provided as is

I work to keep the site accurate and available, but I can’t promise it will always be error-free or online. To the extent the law of Alberta allows, Bench Psychology isn’t liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or reliance on its general information. Your assessment, if you go ahead, is governed by the agreement you sign — not by this page.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time; the “last updated” date at the top of this page shows when. Continuing to use the site means you accept the current version.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Questions about anything on this page? Email me at vanessa@benchpsychology.com.
